Restaurant Review: Ohana Express, Redwood City

Ohana Express is a Redwood City restaurant located on the site of the
former landmark Dairy Queen on Woodside Road at Hudson St. (same owner) opened in May, 2017

The concept is American diner supplemented with Asian entrees and boba tea drinks, or as they write “Burgers – Bowls – Desserts”. Meals range from $5 to $11 plus drinks and taxes.

“Ohana” means family in Hawaiian.

I had The Classic cheeseburger ($5.25) which was big, fresh and delicious.

A friend ordered the chicken katsu ($8.49), which was also delicious.

They also sell DQ-style soft ice cream which will keep the previous DQ patrons happy.

It has AC, indoor seating, plus 8 outdoor shaded picnic tables.

They currently offer a discount special on $2 desserts (small twister or boba drink) with a dinner.

Typical classic diner decor with a twist – LCD menus wall. It’s worth dropping by just to check out the cute custom logo artwork throughout – windows, business card, even the oversize restroom key fob. There are light purple accents inside and outside. (The manager did the work herself in Photoshop.)
