Palo Alto: The Stanford Theater and Blue Diamond Jam

I happened to take the Caltrain down to Palo Alto Friday evening for a meeting …

Afterward, I noticed that The Stanford Theater had a film noir festival, so I decided to see that.

It was a double feature of the “The Blue Dahlia” (1946) and “The Big Sleep” (1946).

But the highlight was seeing the restored 1925 Stanford Theater … it’s breathtaking.

During the intermission a pipe organ console slowly elevated and an organist played for about 30 minutes.

Well worth the $7.00 admission price. Even soda and popcorn is priced reasonably. 🙂

As a bonus, the Blue Diamond Jam, a free music concert, was playing in Lytton Plaza.

I bought a slice of pizza from Pizza My Heart next door and listened to some pretty intense rock/jazz/funk music.

Eight musicians performed simultaneously, with one of the 4 guitarists doing a pretty good Joe Satriani.

The Blue Diamond Jam is scheduled every Friday evening, and in case of bad weather will be rescheduled for Saturday.
